Hi.
Im not against creative drivers, despite the critisism of them, they are good drivers;
But i was wondering, i can access everything in audio HQ, that i use, like speaker type, and individual volume controls from the windows Control Panel. So if the bare drivers are installed, are the stuff such as AudioHQ & Taskbar icon really needed? or can i get rid of them?

Open AudioHQ and under options you can deselect load on startup and show icon on taskbar. That is all you have to do.

All you need are the bare drivers. You don't need any of the extra applications if you don't want them.

the only thing i keep installed aside from the drivers is "surround mixer" to change the 5.1 setting and fiddle with the input settings for my tv tuner card.

It's also useful for the EAX effects panel, for resetting the effects if a poorly programed game leaves them turned on.
