Creative Audio Service

Howdy...

Google turned up nothing on this, and it seems the Creative Forums are not well staffed, so I hope to get some answers here. This is the original post from the Creative Forums:

"Greetings...

I recently updated my XFi Xtreme Music drivers and now notice a new service active in my WindowsXP SP2:

Creative Audio Service

Set to Automatically start, no dependencies. I can't find anything with Google on this, so it must be new. What is this for, and do I need it to auto-start?

Thanks.

Darklighter,

It's probably described in your Creative help screens somewhere. Otherwise Google "Creative Audio Service" and see what you get. You may or may not want it...

Well, there is always my favorite method of dealing with new services. MSCONFIG, disable it on startup and see what happens. If the sound card fails, then reenable, if life continues, then ignore the service and enjoy the space that not running it provides.

(And please let us know what happens when you disable it, I'd like to know)
