Creation Club is finally released. It doesn't look good.

Bethusda just released Creation Club to the masses. You can buy a mud crab for $5. Or, a sword for $1. You could also spend $15 on a survival mod that you can get for free on Nexus. Frost Fall anyone? It's free and it's done much better Why should I spend $15?

Creation Club has gotten bad reviews since it came out. Don't believe me? Go visit YT. IMO, it just seems Bethusda is just interested in making a quick buck off their fans. I think this is a bad move because when they do release a new game many people are going to ignore it.

Gotta think if this is the future. Microtranctioned to death. It makes it even worse since Skyrim is a 6-year old game. It's not even new.

I'll stick to the free mods I'm not giving them a dime, besides the game that I purchased. Thoughts?

Did I enter a time warp? What happened? I thought it was out weeks ago and I was just uninterested.

I just started to get these Creation Club reviews in my feed. The people who were reviewing CC had stated that it was just released.

Didn't realize that it was released weeks ago.

It almost seems like an expansion, but not. Basically it sounds like a more professional mod package coming directly from them or partners and they insure everything works together. I don't see this as a bad thing, but nothing that gets me excited about either game either.

I went on for Fallout 4 over the weekend and it's all small mods such as outfits or new guns, so things for the player. I'm perfectly willing to pay for well-crafted, debugged, de-conflicted DLC-style content, but this is pure microtransaction nickel and dime bullshit. Makes me suspect that Fallout 5 may be intentionally borked to drive microtransactions to make the game playable and/or enjoyable. Probably too early to call, but so far it's really turning me off the franchise.

I know that I am going to be very wary of all Bethe$da products from now on, not going to support this micro-transaction crap they want to infect us with. I have donated to a few mod makers for F4 and Skyrim through the Nexus where I really liked their work but this is just trash.

I keep hoping Fallout 5 is set in Canada or maybe Alaska. At the very least, move it to the Colorado Rockies.
We've spent more than enough time in dried out dead wastelands. I'd like a dried out frozen tundra. Or something.

Considering how old these games are, it is pretty safe to say that they did not create them with the idea of microtransactions. This seems like a bone they are throwing for those who still play the games today. If they do this with a newly released game, then you can worry.

I'd like to either see something more akin to "The Last of Us" or something with radically different elements. I love Fallouts 3 through 4, and I do think the world of 4 was a vast improvement, but it's time to shake up things. Unless they choose to do a tick-tock with another developer as they did with Obsidian - then we at least get a fresh, different perspective. Bethesda's quite good, but also pretty small.

Being nickled and dimed for crap that's always been free seems like the kind of bone on which one chokes and thus learns to avoid that particular item. Just sayin' . . .

They did not take away anything that was free, or start charging for anything that was free. They simply started doing some mods themselves, and since they are a company, they are charging for their time.

Mods are still free. Mods directly from Bethesda, are not. It's DLC stuff.

Or they could just license the franchise out, one game at a time.

Let Ubisoft have a shot.
EA. Epic. Obsidian.

and.......... FIGHT!!

On this one, sure? For Fallout 5? I'd give it about a fifty-fifty shot.

Actually they could pick a good mod team or three and run it through Creation Club. If a freakin' outfit can be called DLC, surely a new game on the existing engine could be.

If they start trying to nickle and dime things on future games, it has nothing to do with this. They aren't comparable.

That's called an expansion, maybe a sequel depending on how big it is.

Should they have never made anything for players at all? This is something they never offered in the past. It's not about charging for something they used to do for free. They simply never did this. I don't think it is worth purchasing, but there is nothing wrong with charging for added content/items on a single player game, that was released years prior.

If they can refer to Buttercut power armor or Pipboy skins as DLC, they can call anything anything. With a straight face.

As far as having nothing to do with this, it would be pretty darned easy to lock up the code so that Creation Club is the only source for any mods whatsoever. Take the game as presented, or spend scores more dollars making it the game you want to play. Weapons? Here's a dozen - but you can buy dozens more better ones at the Creation Club! Armor sucks? Don't waste your character's caps, visit the Creation Club and buy better with real money! Pay full price for a game, then keep paying to make that game worth playing.

You can say that about any game. Wait until there is a problem before you cry. Seriously, nothing bad has happened. When there is something bad, THEN you can cry.

Zenimax has already cocked the bat. Maybe they don't intend to hit the consumer in the head with it, but a prudent person keeps watch just in case they do what they seem likely to do. In the mean time, I'll keep avoiding the Creation Club unless and until they have something that could legitimately be considered DLC rather than just nickel and diming their customer base. Should they ever reach that point, I'll happily pay more. But right now, they are merely charging for very minor mods that wouldn't even make the top 100 free list. I don't care what they call them, they are just mods. Minor, inconsequential mods. And if they don't get hooked on that additional money, they'll certainly be the owner game developers to avoid it.

Seriously, this is a game several years old that the dev's, not the community, decided to create some content for. That's how EVERY game developer works. They are a company, they do not make games out of the goodness of their heart. They make it so they can put food on the table.

Stop overreacting.

Note: I have no intentions of paying for this stuff either. I doubt many people will, but it doesn't mean they don't have a right to, and that there is nothing out of the ordinary for a game company to charge for added content. It's not like they held back content at release, to charge for it later (like Dragon Age dev's did).

They even delivered a free high res pack after release, and the enhanced version after release for free. If they wanted to nickle and dime you, those would have been big opportunities.
