Well if you are a regular working class Joe, shouldn't you heed the advice that a system in 1 year will outperform today's top of the line for a lot less money? There's a reason why only the rich would build a high end system, because they can afford to do it every single time something new comes around if they so want to. Price/performance is less of an issue if you have a ton of money to spend on a system.

If you still want the absolute best, be prepared to spend upwards of $6k for some absolutely beastly SLI/Crossfire set-up on an i7 system, with the most expensive i7 chip, with a water cooling set-up, with a load of SSDs in a Raid config + an NAS for pure media. If you truly say budget is not a concern, and you want the most powerful, don't expect to have anything less than a gargantuan power bill every month.

Why would you put a 32 or 64gb SSD in a desktop?

You'll run out of space for applications so quickly :(

Boot-up/fast app drive, he has a 1tb in there for a reason.

Sure, for storing data, but just try installing applications outside the C:\Program Files folder!

This thread is full of fail. The largest of which is your 17 inch monitor that you might upgrade later. You could get a 22" for like $150 that'd beat your 17" like a bully after school, or a 24+" that'd be even better. You seriously want to spend 5000+ on a pc and use a 17" monitor? Your videocards would be working about as hard as a politician to fill that screen, and it would be a complete waste of cash and hardware.

I'm not gonna go into the rest of my rant, this is actually painful and usually its fun.
