Mcafee is generally thought to be the worst AV suite, right behind Norton. Look for Kaspersky free after rebate- it's around quite a bit, and I'd expect some deals for Black Friday.

Also, you guys do know that if you have a seagate or maxtor drive, even external, you can run Seagate Diskwizard free (= Acronis 10)

:)

There's AVG free that isn't bad and one other who's name slips my mind, you have to register it...Ahoy! I think is the name of that one. Used to use it waaaaaaaay back, then went with Norton for a long time then dumped it and switched to AVG then McAphee since it's free from Comcast and has firewall, av, etc...in one package. A bit of bloatware like all of them. Maybe I will switch back to AVG but since it's installed and not causing any issues I'll probably stick with McAphee. I don't hit risky sites for the most part as it is and I am picky with what I pull off the net (usually utils/tools as needed).

Acronis 10 let's you create a boot CD or boot flash drive.
You can boot to either and create an image of your hard drive partition and save the image on another partition or drive.

Edit:
Shouldn't this thread be in the software forum?

I image and restore this OS by running Acronis 8 from a CD under Bart PE (similar to windows PE) and dump the RAID image to an external USB drive. I prefer to do this way rather than running acronis from the main OS directly as I am guaranteed that no XP files are in use at the time of the image.

I also tried using the Acronis Linux based CD method and this would have been successful except that no Nforce 3 raid drivers were available for linux, hence the Bart PE route.
Bart PE lets you run whatever XP drivers you want.

Been using this method for at least 2 years with no issues

Same method here!

Didn't even think of this. I always thought the boot cd was to restore, but I didn't know it also allows the ability to create images of drives.

Where could I get the Bart PE Acronis plug in if I wanted to build a PE Disk with the free version of Acronis 10 that comes with HD's??

I would think at Acronis' website there should be a link to it. And probably the manual has a pointer to some links in it.

I have been imaging my OS partition for over 5 years on a regular basis.
Never used Bart PE for that.
Even Drive Image (PowerQuest), what I used at first, had a boot CD.
The free version of True Image has a boot CD too.

Correction:
Drive Image did not have a boot CD!
It had a boot floppy. I used it to create my own DI boot CD.
