With so many technologies and fields involved in IT, I really think that there are better options than SQL. I understand what you're trying to accomplish, and it sounds like a great experiment, but SQL... really?

I would tech something that offers some return or reward in the end. When you helped them with their club website, at least they had something to show for it. With SQL, all you have is an ugly-ass database.

What else could I use to introduce them to DB concepts that would be more accessible and/or interesting?

I became a computer geek because I wanted a comp that could play games in middle school. Give them games, 13-year-olds don't care about boring javascript.

Well, making their website database-driven could help. Lots of possibilities there.

more accessible: microsoft access.
more interesting: world of warcraft

rather than make technochix, you should strive to make your sisters more like

Girl B (nsfw)

Hmm.

13 might be too late, however if they build and maintain their club's website, they may already be on that path.

Good luck. 😉 lol
