Creating Ghost 2001 Image on CD-R media?

Hi,

I just got Norton Ghost 2001 and am trying to figure out how to make an image of my c: drive onto a CD-R.

I read the fine manual that came with Ghost but it really svcks.

  • How do I make an image of my c: drive and then copy that image onto CD-R media?
I made a Ghost boot disk, but can't figure out how Ghost will be able to write to my CD-R drive without going to Windows??
Running: Win2K SP2, Plextor 12/10/32A, 2 physical IDE drives with 3 partitions (C, D, E)

Thanks

I don't know about Ghost but with Drive Image it's easy. When you install DI, it detects that you have a CDR and asks you if you want to put the proper drivers onto your boot disks to enable burning to the CD-R. If you tell it yes, you will have an option to write directly to the burner when doing an image. I would think Ghost does something similar.

It's so easy...

When it asks where to save the image to, just select you CDRW drive letter. It'll ask for CDs automatically, and span the image across them. Don't forget to use compression.

The regular boot disk works fine, I have the same burner.

Here's what I did:

I booted Ghost using the floppy disk it created. From there I was presented with 2 drives to choose from. I picked what I thought was my c: drive. It then proceeded to burn 4 CDs worth of information on CD-R media.

After it was done, I tried to view the contents of the ghost images on the CD-R. Everytime I tried to view the images (using Ghost explorer) -- the whole system crashed....so now I have no idea whats on the images, or even if the images work?!
