How many backups are used for unlawful purposes for every legitimate backup in use?

Lending the original while you're still using the copy or vice versa is considered multiple copies in use for a single purchase.

A little story.... I got robbed a few years back. Took a bunch of crap.... guns, pool cues, leather jackets, hiking boots and much much more..... and every music and data CD I owned. They didn't have a car so couldn't carry away the computers, or didn't have enough time.... Trashed my house rather badly.
So, the cops came over, did their thing... never caught anyone of course. They leave and I'm cleaning things up a bit lamenting to my ladyfriend..... damn fvck@rs, and they got all my software, games, music...!!!!!!!!!!!!! someoafreakin'beeaoch!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was cleaning off the pool table of the clothes and crap they threw around.... and there sits this camping duffle, holds a couple of those fold up camp chairs..... but the camp chairs are out back... the bag is full... oh my god! It's all my CD's... all of them! The SOB's forgot it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did I get lucky... in a way. For blocks around everyone heard the sigh of relief!
Do I back my stuff up? Damn right! And I will use any means to back my stuff up and don't much care about EULA's or legal agreements. Do I 'share' with my friends, no... I actually run my own business of sorts so have to be reasonably legal...!

Think about it.... all your CD's, all of them. Sure we have a lot of other junk we worry about... but think of all those easy to carry away CD's we've spent $$$$$$$$$ on. I can't even add it up on this end. Walk in and they are all gone.
Another good poll in the making.... how much money do you have tied up in CD's? All of them OS's, Games, Music, Software... all of it! Big sigh......
