Creating a Windows 7 install USB

I currently have a legal, authentic Windows 7 installation DVD that I purchased. I'd like to be able to install via a USB stick, rather than an optical drive. How do I go about doing this?

So far what I've been able to find is that if you have an ISO, you can use a tool from Microsoft to put it onto a USB stick. But, all of the official explanations seem to indicate that getting the ISO involves purchasing a new copy via digital download from Microsoft. I'd rather use the copy I already have, just changing the form factor to be USB instead of DVD. Can I do that, and if so, how?

Firstly, convert the DVD into an ISO with a tool like UltraISO or ImgBurn

Next:

use Rufus to make a bootable USB, make sure to choose the UEFI/GPT partition option in RUFUS as per the guide in the link (only if you want to format your HDD/SSD in GPT mode otherwise choose the MBR mode)

You can also use Microsoft's Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to burn an ISO image to a USB or DVD.

This does Windows Vista, 7 and 8. But it also supports Windows XP along with a variety of Linux Distros. You can also load numerous bootable CD tools like Memtest and HDscan and gparted.

And best of all you can have multiple bootable ISOs on one flash drive.
