Creating a Website.

no shens, stores called Sideo Video, in Sunrise Fl. been there since 1980.

I would like to create him a website, for his business, to add to his business cards, just a basic site, that gives backround info about the store, business hours, direction (possibly like A map quest type thing) etc etc etc.

one problem, i HAVE never created a site....

i plan on using my current hosting with darthworth.(if he lets me, and it will abide by all his rules)

so is this feasible?

well thats why he asked me, since he knows i can build computes just fine, butt im not so good with software, he was telling me, since the internet and broadband internet became to regular in homes now-a-days, he looses ALOT of business.

Honestly, just save yourself countless hours of tweaking and layout work and just go to http://www.templatemonster.com/ . I'm a software developer by trade and even I don't bother anymore.

You'll learn just fine by modifying an existing template and your first site will have the advantage of not making baby jesus cry, like most first sites do.

You pay $50 for the template, and you gain a license to edit and use the template and make it yourself.

Yeah because a software developer is the same as a web designer.

A programmer certainly has the ability to understand a basic html site like the one OP wants. Any coder should be able to throw together a simple business card site in a few hours... However, I'm with yllus, it's just not worth it anymore. Find a template and tweak it. Much easier.

OP needs to edumicate himself on how it all works, How sites are hosted etc. Best way to do that is just to do it. There are plenty of sites that will provide him the info, but he doesn't know what his questions are yet.

last time i worked there, last month

this one, hobo looking, homeless man, came in the store, now, the store is sectioned off, like the first 20 feet in the store are just regular movies, then its sectioned off into adult section, so he walks into the adult section, and while im checking the customers out (the movies lol) i stop to walk in the adult section, to check on him (since he honestly didn't look like he had $5 to his name) and low and behold, hes got his pants down, and is jerkin himself to the boxes, i screamed at him, he put his pants back on, and i literally garbed him by his coat, and through him outside. and told him hes not welcome here.

If you want to learn the basics, I'd say pick up a book at the library or click w3schools. They have a lot of very easy to understand tutorials. They even have a couple popups that let you change code on one side of the page and see how it changes on the right side.
