Im really impatient with this 60FPS capp and my geforce 4 ti4600 isnt performing its full potential and i was woundering if Nvidia and Microsoft XP will be fixing this 60 FPS capp and abolishing the need for refresh rate fix by creating a new driver update for winxp. i got the fixed refresh rate but i dont want to have to tweak it everytime to get different results.

You're talking about two different things here: vsync and refresh rate.

If you disable vsync your framerate will go as high as is possible, regardless of your refresh rate.
To fix the refresh rate problem get a program like RivaTuner.

Ok. I'm a little confused here about this refresh rate fix. I have a VT ti4600 running on XP home w/28.32's. My desktop res is 1152x864 @ 85 mhz. I start my favorite game, Nascar Racing 2002 Season and at the startup screen it's still reading 85 mhz. When I actually start to race, it's at my prefered res of 1280 x 960 x 32 with 2x fsaa enabled but I'm now at 60 mhz. Is the refresh rate fix supposed to cure this problem. After a three hour race I'm getting some wicked eye strain. I have a Sony 19" 420GS monitor.

Yea, I hope they fix the root of the problem, which is in the way that Win2k/XP handle the refresh rate. It's not the fault of the drivers, but rather in the OS itself.

Yes it does but make sure you have the correct monitor driver installed.

I blame Microsoft 100%. The operating system is supposed to make full use of your hardware. If the fault is DirectX, well hey that's Microsoft's baby, too.

Optimal refresh rates work fine in Windows 9x so what the hell is the problem? :disgust:

This is a small proggy written by one Hardocper and it works pretty well. No installation, just add the shortcut of the proggy to the startup folder.
