Creating a 4.1, 5.1, 7.1 system with Logitech Z-340s

I remember reading back in the hot deals forum that people were somehow putting together 2.1 systems to make X.1 systems How were you all doing this?

I'm really confused. Especially since the satellites on the 340 don't run on miniplug or RCA and instead on some wacky composite cable.

Is it with a special soundcard or maybe you're powering all the subs and have them turned down?

People used to do 4.2 setups of klipsch speakers with 2x 2.1 setups - just one in the front, one in the back

i think it's a waste of time just go buy klipsch 5.1's or logitech z680's
