Creatine?

Anyone ever use Creatine and get side effects? Ive used it twice now, two different kinds and this one im noticing different problems. (Stomach aches and sore throat) Im also sick, I got sick a couple days after using it, Im wondering if the cold is directly related to the creatine or if its just something going around for the time of year?

Anyone have similar experiences?

I was on it for two months about four or so years ago, and never noticed any side-effects (other than water retention, of course). But I do know that a friend of mine tried the stuff, and it tore his stomach up pretty badly (i.e. "the runs"). I've never heard of anyone getting a cold from the stuff, though.

Let me guess, the one that burned your throat was Cell-Tech?

If you would read the bottle, you'd note that it's an acid in the powder that causes that. It's easily relieved by drinking a cup of water right after you guzzle down the drink. Some people have a little stomach discomfort when taking creatine. Though, more than likely, it's the insulin spikers they add to the mix causing it.

There are NO repeatable studies showing any long term side effects from creatine use. There may be some short term problems with cramping if you fail to keep yourself hydrated, though.

Your "cold" is not caused by creatine. It's caused by a common virus.

yea cell tech burned a bit, but it worked , ill give it that, after all the water retention i had noticable gains. I think i may not be hydrated enough, that maybe the problem with my stomach. As far as this cold i guess its just a cold. -Thanks

Has there been any studies showing that there are no side effects?
I took this stuff for 6mo like 5 years ago. It worked well, in the sense that I really did not get sore from working out so I could work out longer and harder. I personally did not have any issues with it, but overall it is just not worth it imho when no one knows what taking the stuff may do to you longer term.

Creatine has been used for sports enhancement for decades. It occurs natually in the foods we eat.

The key here is proving a positive, not a negative. Find one study that is peer reviewed and repeated showing ANY long term negative health effects. Just one. And I promise you, dozens of studies have been done.

I've used Creatine for a year straight about 5 years back... haven't notice any side is longer than the other side by 5 inches, and if you put it in reverse, you can get the ingredients to mix up properly and get the right effects....

😀

I may not be up to date on the most recent information but:

At least it was my understanding that it has not been around for "Decades", I thought I heard maybe in the 90's it became well known.

Yes it occurs naturally and you can get it by eating red meat. But to get the same quantity from meat would involve consuming many, many pounds. Your body does not normally receive that quantity of creatine naturally.

From all the studies I had heard, there hadn't been anything done longer term at least that I had heard of.

I'm not saying that creatine is going to kill you, but I don't think it is completely well studied. But if anyone has any links to any specific studies that'd be great.
