I'm 6'0", 235 - 240 lbs - more fat than muscle...soft mid-section. I'm trying to get in better shape in general and obviously loose some weight. I've been being careful with my diet for the last couple of weeks. I've been doing the Power 90 workout (p90...not p90x), and I feel like my muscles aren't recovering fast enough. I started taking a post-workout whey protein shake a couple of days ago to try and help. GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60...but I'm only using 2 scoops, so 40 grams instead of 60 (based on the recommendation of the guy working at GNC).

I'm wondering if adding 5 grams of Creatine to this shake would help me at all. I've heard that it can make you gain weight/retain water/etc. I'm just trying to get a clear picture of whether or not it would be good for me. I don't want to gain weight...I want to lose fat and gain muscle (I understand that muscle weighs more than fat so I would need to lose more fat than I am gaining muscle for my weight to drop).

Anyone have a recommendation?

Don't avoid creatine if the reason behind it is that you don't want to gain weight. You will retain water and it will increase your weight but it goes away when you stop taking it. It doesn't in itself increase your fat or muscle. It only helps you work harder. I usually take creatine expecting a 3-5lb weight gain(I'm currently 170lbs on it... got back on a week ago, I was 167-168). It doesn't bother me one bit even though my goal is weight/fatloss.
