Create New Folder not working in some programs.

Most things I download I put on the desktop in a new folder so I can find it easily and then file it away when I am finished. I have noticed that in several programs when I go to save a file(s) and I click the New Folder icon, nothing happens. I can still right-click in the window and choose New/Folder so it's not a big deal. Just wondering if anyone has encountered this?

I can't recall which programs it does work in (if any) but I know there have been several that it doesn't.
OS is WinXP pro w/sp2.

It happened on an 845G running XP Pro (many upgraded SP2 betas and release candidates) ...don't know when. For me, it let me create a New Folder anywhere with the button, except for the desktop. The bulletin says it applies to Windows ME and that changing the display driver from VGA would fix it. I searched for almost a year and that was all I could find on the problem.

Well... I did a fresh install this weekend w/a slipstreamed SP2 and the problem went away! I didn't think to check it out until I saw your post. Good luck!

It's funny I just found this thread. I noticed this exact same problem today but my system is an AMD Athlon 64 with the nForce 3 chipset.

I haven't tried a reinstall yet.

Windows XP Pro SP2.
