Create a calendar file that can be easily imported into Outlook

This is a pretty random post, but what I'm looking to do is create a file that has my team's hockey schedule in it, and do so in such a way that I can email the file to my team and everyone can easily import it into the calendar program of their choice. Probably 95% of these people will be Outlook users, so if it only works for them that's enough. Anyway, I've been able to create some simple vCalendar files from Outlook by highlighting a scheduled item and saving as vCalendar format (.vcs). There's also iCalendar format (.ics). Not sure which type I should use, and finally I would like these all in one file, not mulitple files. So what I'd like to know is which of these formats to use, and how to combine them into a single file for mulitple appointments as opposed to a seperate file for each appointment.
