Crazy R/C car video. And 1337 747 video

At first didn't think much of it, starting going and was bah, 200 scale mph, big woop. Just watch the whole thing
Vroom

Took a 747 out for a spin the other day, wind sure was bad...
Weeeee

Courtesy of IGN, Mike's a cool dude.

That little car is INSANE!:Q "Scale MPH?" I dunno...it sure looked like 200-MPH to me! I thought it had topped-out, but then they raised the speed even more. Damn, that little thing is fast. I was wondering why they had it all fenced in and stuff...now I know. That thing would go right thru you like a big bullet! :Q Cool stuff. Thanks.

Damn that car was fast. If that track was 50 feet in diameter and it went around about 2 times in 1 second, this is all guessing then that would put it at 214 mph.

That landing was at Hong Kong's old Kai Tak Airport (closed). Because of it's placement, pilots needed to make a sharp right turn (basically through the city) to meet the runway. It was also notorious for wicked winds and windshear. That 747 is "crabbed" into the crosswind to keep over the runway, a 747 can't bank that close to the ground because of wingspan and engine placement, they will strike the runway.

Engine Strike!
My other plane is an F-14!

It doesnt look THAT windy.
The smoke off the tires doesnt blow that badly
flags in the background doesnt blow that badly
theres boats in the water no problem.
water is calm as can be....😕
i'd hate to be on that plane

Windshear, by definition, is sharp, forceful winds. It is windy as hell, it's just in bursts and can occur at anytime. Windshear=pilots worst enemy. Everything can be fine and calm one moment (why there is no smoke moving when he touches down) and chaotic the next with no warning. Millions goes into research and Windshear avionics, bad bad stuff.

..about that RC car vid... aren't the birds in the sky flying a bit too fast?

On the RC Car video, what is the guy in the middle doing? He seemed to be swinging something around, then he started hugging that pole for dear life!

:Q
You're right. I had to re-watch it. still, that car was goin pretty fast for anythign miniature sized

I think the birds were actually bugs. watch it again and it looks like they come close, inbetween the camera and the wooden wall. Watch the flag in the background, it seems to be flapping normally. There also appears to be a speed readout on the wooden wall. couldnt read it though.

It looks like the cars arent being steered by radio control, theyre connected to the pole in the middle by that steel cable. It looked like the guy in the middle was helping the car get moving, then he just got out of the way of it.

Looks real to me, and totally crazy!!

<< The cars are badass. Who's piloting that plane? Must be the same guy who piloted the Exxon valdeeze. >>

No way, that guy saved those people from slamming into the runway!
