omg looks just like my old desk, kb/m + speakers + monitor + desk

let me make it more understandable.

A for effort sure, but it does not protect from pointing out not so good design or taste.

else you'd have to bite your tongue...

To quote a cartoon....

In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so.

Gotta love cartoons.

Nice "case" mod. Or should I say, way to go case mod-less?

If I'm an imposter I'm not a very good one. I don't even sound like him.

I realize this isn't a computer for everyone, it isn't meant to be. I wasn't trying to build a 5,000 dollar gaming rig to compete with Alienware, just something cool and different. I laugh at how many people hate on the monitor and speakers. They are what I had before this, I just set it up as an example. I'm just trying to find out if it is a commercially viable idea, and partially because I just really like attempting to combine my nerd side with my artsy side.

As far as loudness goes - since it gets so much passive air flow from being open, it doesn't need the fans on a high speed to stay cool. The fan controller keeps things pretty quiet unless playing Black Ops on ultra high. And if you are doing that I would imagine explosions would be drowning out the sound.

I wasn't meaning to be...ok not sure what word I'm looking for. I just think it needs more polish. Do some outlining with UV reactive paint or maybe get some UV reactive sleeving so that you can see the connections between the components. You kind did this but make it really tidy. You could make it look like circuit board traces or something.

It just needs something extra, aesthetically.

Maybe make shrouds to cover up parts of the motherboard. I've seen several case modders do this and it tends to look pretty good.

Since its out in the open, maybe use passive heatsinks.

Oh, and isn't there some concern about running an extensions cable for the video card? Especially if its one that needs a lot of power.

No, I still don't think so. While it is an argument that sounds good, it means you cant criticize the jersey shore because you haven't been in or created a reality tv show of your own.
Dare you criticise sarah palin, she has a book and a tv show....what do you have. Fact is recognizing talent is easier than producing yes, but it does not mean people should withhold judgement. Sometimes its better to leave things to those with talent in that area.

choice of speakers...yes
if you going to show off, it can't be all show no go.
sound quality of those micro driver type cheapo units is probably pretty lousy.

Actually, I have a set of those same Logitech Z-4's w/ sub and they sound superb for a reasonably priced 2.1 system. They're crystal clear with no dsitortion and good reproduction up to a considerably loud volume.

I'm sure there are much better, but at significantly higher cost.

Don't lose control
You need it
To ignore the trolls

Which would be fine, if he weren't trolling for money....
if you haven't noticed, his post was little more than an advertisement for his ebay auction.

The idea has a lot of potential. With some extra effort and more cash and some custom CNC it will blossom into a piece of modern art.
Ignore the haters. IMO, even the prototype 1 is cool. I'd say that 0rroo seems to have a personal grudge against the OP. Don't like it? Fine, express ur opinion and move on...

Overall, this is a good business idea. I wish OP best of luck. Also, OP is not spamming yet as he did not make any money off his project.

Spamming is when you have an established company that pushes products on people. Introducing concepts is OK in my book.

Edit: I like it because it is good looking, no dust to accumulate, easy to clean, easy to swap components. Also a space saver. Not sure how it will work around kids.

more effort choosing components vs tacking leds to the wall would be better no?
i mean really if he had hacked all that into a used apple mac pro case or something i'd me more impressed.

if you are going to make the effort, yo might as well do it right.

When it is based on spamming their ebay auction on a forum, yes i'll go after it.

adlep
Anyways, you think you are really being kind by giving lousy business advice to someone because you wish to only tell white lies?
spamming linking to your ebay auction, and posting for that expressed reason, and though he makes it an extra hop away in his advert, its primary purpose is simply to advertise his ebay auction.

I really don't mind as long as the item is "Cool". For example, if he'd listed and linked to a fully working copy of Enigma machine he just built, I would be fine with that as well.

I like the concept and project. I would not mind buying such a "case" for my house, provided it comes with a kit and it is not too expensive to build. So, I hope his business succeeds...
