Of course your assumption is that everyone has the same set of standards when judging women. Beauty is really in the eye of the beholder...well to some extent. There are girls my friends find attractive but I don't and vice versa. Now mind you there isn't anything wrong with any of these girls and I'd say they are attractive but just not for me. Chemistry, Self Confidence (how you view yourself and what kind of girl you think you can get), personality all plays a role.

Would I date a girl I thought was fugly? Hell no. Would I date an above average looking girl but not necessarily a really hot one? Sure if the other conditions are met.

Are you making the claim that it's impossible to be happy alone? Because that's what it sounds like. You seem to be making the asinine claim that being completely miserable in a relationship is better than being outside of a relationship.

Two unattractive people will not resent each other. In a mis-matched relationship, the more attractive person (if bludgeoned into the relationship by your spurious reasoning) will constantly resent the less attractive person and will make the less attractive person completely miserable because of it.

what if one were to take this whole thing and relate it to FRIENDSHIPS.

Should you become friends with someone, because they need a friend?

what if that person was a little strange (still a good person, but just seems a little strange on the surface) and if you became their friend, that then other people started avoiding you (even ppl that you thought seemed like pretty good people, outside of their wariness of the strange)

any ideas?

Then you have to decide which you want more. You cannot change other people's reactions. And if you are resenting them for abandoning you, then you will most likely resent the new friend too in short order.
