A friend of mine who was a well-known liberal (from my white upper-class private school, its pretty easy to spot) graduated last year and went off to college at Oberlin (somewhere in Ohio). Tonight he joined a group of my friends and I for dinner..We were talking about various BS, and somehow the environment came up. I knew he'd be opinionated, so I tossed out some of my nonchalant environment-will-take-care-of-itself theology. He tells me that if we don't change what we're doing as far as cars and transportation, to not "blame him when we all have to wear gas masks in 50 years :Q". Woah, I told him that I've never heard any scientist predicting anything that castrophoic that soon. He backed off of that one..but then we started talking about global warming. He said that its getting much hotter, and that soon the ice caps were going to melt, the oceans overflow, and we'd be forced to migrate for higher ground. Another friend joked that we'd be fighting over Iowa soon..haha. Of course this is BS, there is not enough data known for us to know if it is occuring, and after all, temperature changes occur in cycles. Another ironic thing is that this guy has taken up smoking. Smoking?!? He's 18 now, so its legal, but nobody in their right mind would take up that habit...when I pointed this out to him, he said "well, its only 1 person...". My witty friend told me that "He's so worried about what's going to happen in 50 years, he wants to make sure he's not around for it." LOL. He'd probably want the government to take care of him in his old age, to pay for his oxygen tanks - and blame his habit on the government's "lack of education"

About 30 mins ago while I was eating i was flipping thru Friday's Dallas Morning News. On page 3, there's an article written about another article that that states that the ice caps aren't melting at all, and Antartica is actually getting warmer...

Don't you mean antartica is getting colder... that is what I understand.

That would be freaky if the ice caps were getting thicker and warmer at the same time.
