crazy idea

sell it and get a megahalem.
I am sure you will get mixed results, but I have gottem quite a bit better temps with all my megahalems compared to trues, with less fans as well

Long time no talk stranger and how are you liking that seasonic? I thought about getting one, but couldn't talk myself into it for the price. I do have some Enermax's though; probably overkill for my needs

If you want it for purely cosmetic reasons, go for it. If you want it for performance, don't bother. The temp difference should be 1-2C tops.

I run 1 fan on my megahalem and 2 on my TRUE and I get at least 5c better on the megahalem. Worth it IMO plus he wants to match his system. The only thing I do not like about the megahalem is do not run push/pull if you care about noise. In the design it causes a whistling type noise. hard to describe but it has something to do with the design/ gaps/ possibly the split in the sink.

i have never noticed this with my megahalems. im also using antivibration silicone silencers and low CFM fans, not to mention the crossflow from the top fan in my HAF. im probably disrupting the airflow over it enough to prevent it from whistling hehe.

Been a while Infrnl 🙂 Thanks for the responses all

The worst part about it is if I sell the lapped TRUE, i'll be sad and want another one, hah *facepalm* I did end up buying a regular Mega for my Q9650 rig and I really liked the mounting bracket. I had a horrible experience trying to pry open the 1366 bracket for my TRUE. I thought the motherboard wasn't squared - like the holes were wrong, until I realized i needed to pry the already pried bracket even further...

I did recently swap cases for my Asrock platform into the modded Lian Li. Member the one I was cutting and moddifiying last winter? Heh. I found the temps to be very simiar if not worse: going by from what I can remember (no screen shots) The 760 EVGA will either get the Shadow or another loop. I've seen some really good deals on those Swiftech QP stackable rads at MC. I just don't know how hard a mild overclock will beat on either cooling method.

I came across a great PSU review sight called Jonnyguru You'll love the little anecdote inclusions in his writing, very humorous and the reviews are a more in-depth look at what kind of PSU you are buying. The sight offers a RSS feed as well so you can see the updates to his PSU reviews: Awesome sight! The link included is the info on the Seasonic X650 Gold. It's an Amazing PSU and it comes in a 750 flavor as well. Wait till you see the performance graphs; power efficiency curve, mv ripple and supression - amazing PSU

Yes been quite a while.
I just recommended selling the TRUE because you stated about selling it and buying a megahalem. I guess it you can have both, thats the way to go.

I thought you already knew about Jonnyguru's site. That is the main place I go for info on psu's. Jonny is also a mod here @ AT and has been for some time now I believe. If I cannot find a review on a PSu I like on JG site, then I will revert to the forums. The new Seasonic Gold psu's are the ones to get if you got the cash. For some they do not make large enough psu depending on needs and I do not know that they will ever make a larger psu than the 750W. I hear Seasonic does not usually make large psus under their own name. Currently the Gold series seasonic is the best in its class.

Good luck with your projects, you have made it a long ways since I have spoke to you last. Very nice hardware for your rigs!

Hah! Well, thanks but deciding what to do with the 760 A1 has been a royal pita. A long time ago, I intended to put it in the h20 case I put together last winter. So, I get the board and realize it's an eATX board. The case is ATX. This board is suppose to be an overclockers board, now it's going to be used in a stock 920 AVCHD editing rig *facepalm*. Then while I was trying to figure all this shit out, I found the PSU I wanted to use for it, needed to be the updated model which the only way to get one was to wait until all the stock of the old PSU model version was sold.... I've overspent way too much I could end up putting together another rig with the parts i'll have left over.. The Corsair 800D will be sitting for a long time; don't know what to do with it now as it was intended to house a h20 setup for the 760 A1 Every decision I end up making creates more bad decisions.

:\

I thought the 800D supported e-atx boards? Well best of luck to you. I am sure you will figure it all out.

I have been through a lot of changes as well since we spoke last.
I am slowly going to finally try H2o! I currently have the CPU block, lol
Been trying to find time and energy lately to figure out the rest of my list.

Back on topic; how do you like your Mega-Shadow? I love my megahalems.

Thanks man 🙂

How've you been, what's this about going h20? I thought you did? What's your setup like now?

My old Lian Li v1100 is not eATX which is the the case I had when I bought the 760 A1 - even worse, it's my h20 case. I just got the Mega Shadow in the mail today and it's pretty. Thought i'd be a little darker but it'll bide me over until I get enough $$$ to throw a loop in the 800D which is the case the 760 is now going in; so not much overclocking will be going on with it :\ I'll probably just take the Lian Li v1100 and if I don't sell the Q9550 platform, i'll just re-install it in there and use my old 1900XTX for some nastagia fun

I do not know if I told you, but I never got around to H2o.
Aigo talked me into distributed computing and I got out of control.
I was running 6 920's@ 3.8(c0)-4ghz(d0) and 1 X3440 P55 system along with 10 GTX 275's, 1 GTX 260-216 and had a 9800gt for a while; all air cooled by either Megahalems or TRUE's.
Every time I thought about H20 I decided to build another system instead cause the price is relatively the same (mobo, cpu, ram, cooler, hdd)
Recently my electric bill got too high for my wifes taste; so I sold 3 computers and 6 GPU's and paid some bills.

I have a 920/gtx 275 for my wife; antec 300, 920/gtx260; cheap coolermaster case for my 6yr old son, 920/gtx 275 for storage system; lian li A05, and 920 2x gtx 275; no case for main rig.

I have been extremely busy and stressed from work; unfortunately I get paid salary.
I am currently trying to think of all the parts I want for H2o, but kind of need to decide on a case so I know what size rads to buy.
I am on the edge of buying a MM custom extended Ascension from a member on XS. I know your not a big fan of their cases but I have a crazy plan for this year. Basic details will be to run both my systems in the 1 case. Parts/plans is another story for another thread.

thats the basic rundown of whats been happening in the last year or so; along with basic current plan, ha ha ha

The best plan is to... have no plan!

Haha, now that's alot of systems sir! Sheeze 🙂 Gotta love the hobby though; I think I'm about done building for now. Ahhh, I remember those cases: sorta cube like right?

My loop will be out of control.
Meet my next block HK Rev3.0
My Rads Triple stack QP with another rad on the inside of the case.

I'm not sure about the pump; if I should use my 655 or another 355. Nor am I sure about the res.

Until I get my own bills in order, those parts are on hold. I'd really like to get my AVCHD machine running. I have a bunch of material of my niece i'd like to start archiving or organizing into a DVD 🙂 🙂 🙂
And other family events as well.

You can ask in this thread for part suggestions or get your own goin and we'll see what we can do to keep it minimal for ya!

cool, ttyl

Thanks
Yes the MM Ext Ascension is cube like. 24x24x18"; will fit my needs perfectly. I may need a case to hold a XL-Atx mobo by years end
I went with the new Koolance CPU-360
I think I am going to go with the XSPC rads for low RPM performance
I will either go with restop or iandh res
pump will be DCC3.25 pump/ possibly Koolance ver.

still going with Bitspower fittings, misc

they are working on a revised review of pumps and I hear the DCC 3.25 is the way to go, but everyone has their needs and have their opinions

ttyl
