Yesterday a guy was going at 252 km/h here in quebec with his new porshe. There were 4 people in the car, they hit a hole in the highway, got a flat and the car span out of control. One of the girls who was not using her seatbelt got ejected out of the car and ended up in the bushes besides the highway, she survived. The other three were using seatbelts and got crushed while the car tumbled. The guy with the porshe was the son of a multi millionaire, he was a spoiled brat. This makes you think twice about seatbelts though.

This is the exception the rule, & should only make you think twice about riding with people who want to do 252 km/h in their new Porsche.

totally agree...
seatbelts save more lives than they do kill people...

however it is interesting, someone who's in a drowning car would probably survive if they weren't strapped to their seat, or flying off a cliff if they jump out the window and catch a branch or somethign.

Viper is right... This is definately an excpetion. When I was 12, I had a friend killed because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The car went off the road and down a hill. He was thrown. His dad and younger brother (who were wearing their seat belts) survived.

People killed by seatbelts vs. people saved by seatbelts. Hmmm...not such a tough desicion, Dark.

I never hmeant setbelts were not good, I always wear mine it just seems funny that her life was saved by the fact she was not using her seatbelt. If she would hve landed on the highway she would be dead anyways, so her survival was pure luck but I never though a seatbelt could "kill" someone(they would have has a better chane of survival if they would not have worn their setbelts)

And if she hit a sign post instead of the bushes? A more experienced driver would have minimized the damage by maintaining control of the vehicle. A more experienced driver might not have been going 252 km/h with 3 passengers on a road with potholes.

I?ll keep my seatbelt on, thank you.

P.S. Porsche makes a 4 seater? NOW I KNOW. I must not have cared in the past.

I remember once reading a test that had been done.

It showed that passenger safety was dramatically increased if rear seats were focussed backwards rather than forwards, so that in the event of a head-on the passenger was reclined backwards, rather than propelled forwards.

However a survey of car owners showed that well over 90% wouldn't consider purchasing a car designed that way
