My daughter went head first into the window ledge a few weeks ago. The Dr. in the emergency room superglued (dermabond) it shut. Worked great.

I remember a friend telling me that Super Glue was originally invented for this very purpose. I have no idea if this is true, however . . .
I covered that...Originally posted by: BillGates
Question: What happens if your cut gets infected? It'll be buried under hard ass stuck-on superglue and oozing pus or blood or whatever. Don't even ask me to tell you my story regarding that "Second Skin" spray stuff and road rash from a motorcycle crash.
Crazy/Super Glues do not stay attached to wounds very long. They readily absorb liquids from the wound and it loses the tackiness in short order. Sometimes it will stay on a couple of days, but never permanent like the old wives tales.Originally posted by: MadRat
As a disclaimer I want to say not to ever get any crazy glue inside a wound, it should only be used superficially around the edges of the cut to keep the skin tightly held in place. After a few hours or days it will simply fall off and the wound should mostly be healed by then.
How did the cat remain still for your ministrations?Originally posted by: digitalsm
5 years ago I used super glue on my cat to repair a cut on it. The cut was all the way through the first layer of skin, you could actually see a bone trying to poke through the remaining layer of skin(the cut was on his rear leg, near the upper joint). Worked prefectly.
I would hope you had removed the shards of glass...?Originally posted by: Brutuskend
My dog used to get cuts on his feet quite often (jerks braking bottles in the field behind the shop where I work) and I would super glue them closed. Works like a charm. Nice to know about the poison ivy thing though! THanks!
I theorize that the body probably rejects the glue-touched skin and begins the natural healing process sooner.

On the topic of super glue, I recently took out my heatsink, ripped out the tiny fan on it, and super glued a silent 80 MM fan on top. I'm ghetto like that, but now my temps are lower than ever.
And about the wound thing. Jesus, what if it gets in the blood by accident?
superglued the fan to the heat sink or to the processor?
i have an old computer laying around and the clips that hold the fan onto the processor broke-- i've been debating whether or not to just super glue it directly to the processor- but i'm afraid it wont work, and then i'll never get it off.

I've been closing cuts with Band Aids since the '50's. Why would I want to use glue?

Band-aids don't hold the skin together -- they just cover it.

[mr. burns] excellent [/mr. burns]
i'll look that up now.
