Crazy electricians wired my home.

So I finally get most of my light fixtures up in my new townhouse. But, there is a solitary light switch at the stairs just outside the living room that doesn't light anything up and which isn't associated with an outlet. I start playing with it, and faintly hear a fan going on and off upstairs, one floor up. So, it turns out it is a second switch for the bathroom fan.

So, I guess if you have an especially stinky one :Q, you can leave the fan on in the bathroom, go downstairs and watch some TV, and then turn the fan off while still in the living room. :p

Well, at least the place passed the electrical inspection so I know the wiring isn't TOO weird.

That's DAMNED funny!

It took me awhile to figure out one of the switched in the kitchen (in my new condo)...After trying to use the Dishwasher, with no luck, I finally figured out the switch was power to the Dishwasher (WHY there's a switch for power is beyond me, but now I know)

No, no, that's for signaling your teen son that he's been in there long enough :p

My parents bought a brand new house a few years ago. Near the living room, there was a light switch that appeared to do nothing. We couldn't figure it out. Finally, my brother decided to remove the switch plate and see. What he found was funny. Nothing. Just a hole in the wall. We wondered how that passed code inspection.

<< Damn, that's a good idea. >>

Well maybe, but my sister has an ultraexpensive switch (normal-sized) which has a built in timer for the bathroom fan. (But then again, it's probably cheaper for them just to put in a second el cheapo switch.

Heheh, that's brilliant. Some guy probably just stuck his knife through the drywall in the wrong place and decided to cover it up with a switch plate. Helluvalot easier than filling it in and repainting. :p

My friend goes to Caltech, and he lives in one the houses next to the school.

Apparently the houses that he lives in were designed and built by the students in their architecture dept. For every student that was invovled in the designing/construction of the house, they got to wire an outlet each.

So in his house, he has about 20 outlets in EACH ROOM. and they're not the dual outlets, but the quadruple outlets.....

man.........

Did they ever get the bright idea to use more than one house for this ?
