crazy downloading problems

I've noticed a problem with downloading some files from various media on the internet (IRC, FTP, Web), where it will download to a certain point, and then simply hang and go no further. This spot seems to be at a different completion percentage with each file, but for each file, it always stops in exactly the same place. Also, this only happens for some files. Others are completely unaffected and download normally.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Im running Win2k SP2, with a NetworkEverywhere 10/100 ethernet card, if that helps at all to know. If anyone can provide me with ANY insight as to what the heck is going on, i would be MOST appreciative!

Thanks!!

I had a friend who had this problem, try another network card, see if your network card has an updated driver... and if this is a new problem, reboot.... let us know!
