Screw that. I love my 7 mile, 12 minute commute.
~1.5 miles, maybe 3-4 minutes. Sometimes 5-6 if there's a schoolbus, and if the two traffic lights aren't in my favor. 😀

pansies. I walk my 1.8 miles daily. 😛

OP, it can be done if the drive is pleasant and there aren't traffic issues on the commute. Things like that grate on you after a while. You also have to enjoy going to work, otherwise it's self-defeating.

the main problem would likely be the return commute after a long or bad day. once get used to the route, you'll end up getting bored, sleepy, /crash.

as long as you enjoy the job, though, and life in the other town, it shouldn't be a problem (also the strain on car and finances endured by daily 2 hours commute is offset by much better pay)

What city is it that it is so bad?

it's a CA desert town w/ average summer temps of 110F and a population of 30k...

What's the job? I'm guessing its not a big firm if its out in the middle of nowhere. Corporate counsel gig?

county counsel...saying bye bye to big firm!

Wow that sounds like the hubs dream right there. Wow if it was in El Centro he'd be in heaven.
