Crazy CoD 4 glitch?

Kabob

Lifer
I meant to post this yesterday and I completely forgot...I haven't played CoD 4 in a while and I'm just starting to get back into it.

The other night I threw the game in and played a round or two. Then I left the lobby and joined another random game...

I join and all the sounds are super high pitched, I start playing and the game is going at about 4x normal speed. Surely it's just me but no, it's everyone, people are killing and being killed at this speed. After a minute or so I quit and joined a new game and it was back to normal...

Is this some sort of super-speed game mode I've never heard of (I did the normal Team Death Match) or a weird glitch?

*edit* Oh, this is on the 360 BTW, if it was on PC I could understand it...

Unlikely, but I can't think of what it could be. I mean, I can't see it being a benefit to anyone, so other than just for "haha" rights I still think it's more likely an XBL glitch.

I've had some really odd glitches on PS3 as well. Sometimes I can hear the entire other team (no eavesdrop perk on, I don't have it on any of my classes). Other times I've seen other people going 2-3x the speed of everyone else, other times people seem to be in Slow Motion.

it has to do with how they sync everyone to the server. For example,, in L4D, if you play local host, Sometimes if your current peers are really far away, then you may see things at super speed, while to them it appears normal. thats because you're server and have to get out data to someone who is farther behind.

I don't think that was the case either. I joined a game already in progress so I wasn't hosting, and everyone seemed to be playing "mostly" normally despite the super speed, it wasn't like I shot and then 10 seconds later it registered a hit and visa versa.

I'm glad you included this critical piece of information, otherwise I would have been utterly lost.

Didn't want you to feel lost, glad I could rescue you in such a dramatic fashion!

it is a hack

they modified it so that there is a slowmo mode, fastmo mode, and low grav mode

it spreads like a virus too as anyone who plays in one of the modified games will host more games with the same problem until they restart their xbox

Really? Sounds like the most plausable answer yet. Where did you hear of this?
