Crazy car accident

Wow I would have expected the car to be a bit more well destroyed from that drop, must have landed pretty damn well.
 
The another driver was an american old lady, and I am a asian young kid. The police seems he was ignoring me and was rasicm.

Thats what I was thinking, I'm surprised the tires didn't blow off.
 
I did happen to notice:
The accident obviously happened at an intersection.
Said intersection must have had stop signs or traffic lights.
Kid driver never mentions who ran said traffic control device. Hmmm.
Which ever driver broke the law is at fault.

I'm not gonna join that forum just to ask 🙂

BTW: I'm willing to bet that the the "american old lady" was no more than 35 (Note the "Soccer Mom" mini-van) and I could pretty much guarantee that one or both drivers were on their cell phones at the time!
 
20 ft drop, and the BMW only had minor damage...I'm buying one solely b/c of this article...they're tanks

Anywho, I would like to know what really happened also. Getting a ticket after an accident is really dickish of the cop though, especially when he's basing it off of hearsay.

That was a crazy accident...am glad the guy is okay.

Cops can be bigot toward young people & non Caucasian.

I have had 4-5 run in with the cops that they gave me trouble because I'm Asian.

In the early 80s my dad got his ticket thrown out because a cop told us to go back to our country after he faultily accused & ticked my dad for driving dangerously.

Twice I have had racial profiling by the cops and each time spent at least 45 min with them so that they can run my license plate number & driver ID.

Once a drunk did a hit & run on my van and the cops quickly put in a report that I was running a insurance scam with out paid attention to my van (he spent less than 5 second looking at my van). I confront the cops after my insurance company cleared me because they caught the guy that hit my van, and they offered no apology for their ignorance & racist comment.

IMHO, there are too many people in professions that they shouldn't be in.

 
there's far too much lacking from the story to put fault at anyone... but damn, I'm impressed the car isn't more broken... but then again, we don't see any pictures under the hood, and if all the shocks aren't blown.. well.. I might buy a BMW in the future.. haha. who knows what other damage there might be though from the pure shock of it
 
Bimmers are solid. Reminds me of the E46 that got wedged underneath a semi. That's what i call chassis rigidity.
 
man it seems obvious that the kid must have a very thick accent. Cops never side with people that have accents. Looks like the kid is screwed.

There are too many people in here that seem to have no understanding of the concepts at work.

If they see a car that hit a wall at 30 mph and only has a slightly bent bumper, they think that car is safe, not realizing that it would be safer to have a vehicle that decelerates more slowly by crumpling during impact.

Accent? He can't even write proper English...of course they are going to go with the lady's story. She probably had a coherent argument while he spouted stuff like:

which makes it sound like he had no control of his car at all.

I'm betting that this wasn't racism as much as it was a language barrier issue. Evidence of this can be found in the newspaper report which states that the kid was making a left. Even if the lady claimed that was true, if this guy had a proper command of the English language, he would have been able to explain that he was going straight, etc.

Naw, the undercarriage of that BMW is likely totalled. The car was probably going fast enough (even though the driver will say otherwise) to land relatively horizontal to the canal which is evident in the lack of front-end damage. I would also like to point out that the way his car landed is a testament to BMW's adherence to 50/50 weight distribution 🙂 If it was heavier in the front it would have landed nose-first, and then you would have seen some significant damage. There's no reason for the airbag to go off if it's not getting impacted on the nose of the car.
 
Yeah...the point of the posting was not as much the debate over fault, but rather how remarkable the crash and the condition of the vehicle is afterwards
 
I'd slip the adjuster a couple of big ones to total it. Every frame member in that car is probably warped to some degree.
 
If that kid speaks the way he writes, then no wonder he was given a ticket. He couldn't formulated his thoughts and explain the accident to the cop.

Yeah, he left out the part about any traffic management at the intersection.

Also, if you click on his username and look at all of his posts, you find this thread where he gets pulled over for doing 80 in a 55. Must be another racist cop. :roll:

All in all, pretty amazing that the car looks like it has only minor damage. I'll bet it's definitely totaled.
