ok, im LIVID. my three year old decided to be f*cking jackson pollock up in this piece and drew lines of orange and purple crayon ALL OVER my living room carpet!!!! im flipping out, im renting this appartment and i have NO clue how to get this crap out. its RIDICULOUS.

no, its not a small area, or a few scribbles. she drew huge lines curving over like a 9 foot span of carpet.

ive heard the whole (edit)"iron-and-paper towels" deal but over a GIANT area??? its that cheapy, REALLY waxy kinda crayon too.

any solutions and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated... and if youd like to see her art or just have a laugh at my sorry-ass expense, let me know

THANKS GUYS

GG

iron + wax paper, just as you suggested. It might take you a couple hours but it will all come out.

edit: oh and :camera:s

First, calm down. This isn't the worst thing that your child is going to do. ;)

Second, who cares? :p Get it out for your own sake, it doesn't matter if you're renting it, unless you're only going to be staying there for a few months or something. If you live there for any significant amount of time, they will replace the carpet anyway.

Good luck!

Try WD40. My kids once left one in a pocket that then became one with the inside of our dryer. I called our county home extension person and she suggested this. To get it out of the dryer you sprayed it on a towel and ran it for a little while. The stuff in the WD 40 dissolves the wax. So I would be very careful, but at this point it is worth a try.

Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!

Spray down a towel with WD40 and then put it in your dryer?

Holy shit.

im pretty calm now. and they arent going to replace the carpet for something she did....

anyways, to the other poster who asked if heating would melt the carpet... its not a direct flame or something, its being heated over a wax piece of paper so the crayon will lift out of the carpet onto the wax paper...

No, you misunderstand.

If you live there long enough, they will have to replace the carpet anyway, and they will not be able to charge you for it. It's called "Normal Wear and Tear".

I think it looks good. Just go with it and make it look like you let your kid design your carpet. Either that or just throw a rug over it.

I would think wax-paper + iron would just be a bigger mess.
I'd try paper towel + iron instead.

GL. that's a lot of crayon... :(
