Crate training for cats?

Leave him be. Cats like to sleep in enclosed areas. Your only option is to remove the boxes and/or buy him a special box to sleep in.

Then you ain't seen mine. when he was a kitten he'd crash in the turd box. Thhankfully he doesn't do that anymore.

My kitten liked to sleep in her litterbox when we first took her away from her mother, I think because she was used to living outside.

Don't force your cat to sleep somewhere, let it sleep wherever it wants.

My mother used to put her cats in large crates (they were actually dog kennels, with room for small litter boxes and food) when she went to work, because one of them was peeing in the house, and she was never sure which one. They never minded it, and got to the point that they would voluntarily go into the boxes when it was time for her to leave.

You can train a cat....crates are harsh in a way, if you can donate a bathroom that is better (that's what I have done since last thursday). My cats retire back to the bathroom to sleep. I can't say I have seen them sleep anywhere else. They have a bathroom litter box and a larger one in the apartment.

Crates double as a dogs den. Cats don't den.

You can try enticing kitty with a nice comfy bed placed where you want kitty to sleep.
