Crashing in WoW

Yep, it crashes on me. I get between 30mins and 3hrs everytime before it crashes (locks with repetitive sound) or I lose sound altogether to high pitched squealing but can still play OR sound disappears and the game becomes unplayably jerky but doesn't lock.

Course I ordered a new sound card, same as my wife's: Santa Cruz. Hopefully that will fix it (arrives today).

Anyone else experience similar shenanigans? if so how did you fix it?

You can try deleting the following directories (inside your game folder) - they will be recreated when you relaunch the game:

/WTF
/WTB
/Interface

I have some sound bugs on my rig in WoW. Mostly staticy noise and sometimes can't hear anything. Using the built in audio on my nForce2 board. I think maybe it's a hardware or driver issue for me though, since it started after a Windows re-install, and I get it in multiple games... 🙁

i asked in /1 about others having the same problem and those who responded in the affirmative had integrated sound. Unfortunately, I have a pci sound card, Guillemot Fortissimo III. It's been exemplary until now.
