Hey guys,

I recently bought new components for my pc -

Sabertooth z77
i5-3570k
g.skill ripjawX 1600mhz 4gbx2

Old components -
HD6970 MSI
Seasonic 760w Gold
2xWestern digital black 1tb

After installing the new components, I often get random crashes, not BSoD.

Crashes like my monitor would first go black then my system would freeze.

These crashes are random at times BUT not when im using it normally like surfing the net , watching youtube.

I even got crashes when im in BIOS.

I tried stress testing, but the weird thing is that my system would sometimes lock up for a sec and the next it's fine, its like drop in FPS. could it be my GPU?

I tried switching the ram slot , leaving only 1 ram but crashes still occur.

Everything is at stock, did not try to overclock.

I used AIDA64 for stress testing.

The locking up is worst when I stress test the GPU along with CPU , FPU , cache and memory.

My temperatures are fine, using Noctua NH-D14 with idle temps of 30~, load are 50~

GPU temps are 30~ idle and 50~ at load.

Please help!

THANKS

I would run a memory test first, like memtest86, then I would check your voltages on your power supply. Next guess is the GPU, see what happens if you use the iGPU.

Ram might not be compatible. Did you try a different brand? Also, run memtest86 and let us know if you get any errors.

EDIT: Leftside beat me to it :)

Thanks for the reply !

May I ask if it's possible that the motherboard PCI slot might be faulty?

Crashes seems to be often when ever I stress my GPU using furmark.

Haven't had the chance to use iGPU because I do not have a monitor that have display or HDMI port.

Currently im just surfing the net , watching movies ,youtube.

It seems that I have not experience crashes for 2 hours or so.

I would do memtest later when my friend bring me his spare ddr3 ram and gpu for testing.

It really feels that its either my GPU or the PCI slot is giving me problems.

Appreciate the help !

It's likely your video card not playing nice. You can try moving it to another PCIe slot. The second one down is still 3.0 16x.

Any SSD?

Was the GPU fine in the previous build?

Is this a fresh install once motherboard was changed?

Does it show your RAM compatible? Have you tried using 2T and checked?

How old is the PSU? It is several years old?

I tried with another PCIE slot , same thing.

I found out that its my GPU that is causing the problem, tried with another GPU and it works fine, no problems even when stress testing.

Gonna try my 6970 with a spare motherboard.

Thanks for the feedback !
