Woot! It was another scandal, hard to keep them in order now. His approval levels are terrible. Remember this is the guy who came into office when the last governor was caught whoring. It didn't take long before many of us wished him back. I think Paterson has been basically crap as governor, the last budget receiving his blessing with something like a 9% increase in the size of government and a desire to be governor more for the title than to actually help the state.

Good riddance, may you now disappear into obscurity. God willing you'll resign before your (actually Spitzer's, since you never won it) term is up.

Skin color, disability etc don't matter at all. His ability to perform his role as governor does. Apparently he's a very lousy one, the size of government and amount of spending continue to climb unabated even during this budget crisis.

That's because our state legislature is full of idiots. It has less to do with Paterson.

Exactly. I work in NYC and this state is a disaster. Faced with a $2 billion budget deficit, they propose to help close this by shutting down...50+ parks! For a total net savings of like $20 million.

This is what the pols do here -- threaten to shut down services that at the margin are useful for their constituents, wait for public outcry, then say "well you pick...parks close or pay a little more in taxes" and wait for people to relent. God forbid they suggest a 20% reduction in public workforce, or their ridiculous pension and benefits packages.

This racket has been going on for years. That's why NY has high property, income, and sales taxes, and some of the worst pols in the country (mostly Democrats conveniently enough). I hope people wake the hell up.

No argument there, the state legislatures around the country are mostly full of idiots, more so in NY. The governor can veto stuff though, so the buck stops with him.

Not really sure how this clown got elected in the first place, but he's nowhere near as bad as that scumfuck from Nevada - that guy openly admits that he's a moron and claims to have not had sex with anyone, including his wife for the past 10 years, despite carrying on numerous affairs using his gub'ment issued phone.

Anyways, GTFO Paterson.

THat's a pretty common technique - people thik cuts will hit the 'waste' first, but they hit it last often.

Look at what Congressional Republicans did, for example, when in power 5 years ago - with all the spending cuts to pick from, they passed a bill - using reconciliation - cutting $40 billion in aid for the poor, children and education loans. That's a reason WHO we have making the cuts, not just 'making cuts' blindly, is important.

I'm not much impressed by New York Democrats. It seems more a warning, 'Democrats gone bad'.

The Republican Party has a lot of roots in New Englandd of a different kind of party, when the phrase 'liberal Republican' wasn't an oxymoron. They've been purged.

Let's bring back Spitzer...

Our state is in a bad way right now. And I don't think the politicians in Albany have any idea how to fix it.

Property taxes are out of control, the MTA has 400 million hole in it's budget, Paterson witholds aid from schools that need it most....etc etc.

What's even more amazing is it seems he has a new scandal everyday now. The newest being Yankee tickets or something.

I don't even understand that. Shouldn't the governor automatically get free World Series tickets when its in his state?

Not exactly supporting Paterson, but it seems to me that most of the flack he is getting is just silly, the media making sure he doesn't present a challenge to Cuomo. I don't know that anyone short of Jesus could straighten out New York during this recession.

Whats the difference between Jesus and Obama? Jesus doesn't think he's Obama.
