Crappy pings when hooked up to college lines?

It's weird, when i try to game, it'll start to lag. So far it doesn't seem to be game specific. What could be wrong?

UCR Resnet = suck. If it's fun, it's already done for. Though http transfers are nice and speedy.

Gatech Resnet owns. I've gotten a few 3000 KB/s sustained xfers. Bursts upto 5900.

I wonder if port 80 traffic has priority on your network...could try setting up a proxy outside of the network that funnels all traffic through port 80?
