Crappy motherboard not working please help!

I just replaced a motherboard in my old system and I'm having trouble getting it to work.
Specs:
FreeTech P5F110
AMD K6-2 500MHz
192MB SDRAM
VooDoo3 3000 PCI
onboard AC97 sound
Maxtor(I think) 10GB HDD
TGR 250Watt PS
Killer rig, ain't it 😉

My problem is, when I turn on the power, I get no video and continuous beeps. They are medium-length beeps, and continue until I turn off the power. The fans turn on and the lights on the front of the computer seem to be acting ok. I reseated the vid card and I also checked the cmos jumper. What else can I do?

Thanks!

Look in your manual and see who makes your bios. Then go to their website and see what that code means. Here is a sample from Award's site

The only AwardBIOS beep code indicates that a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information. This beep code consists of a single long beep followed by two short beeps. Any other beeps are probably a RAM (Random Access Memory) problems.

YES!!!! I found out that I have an award bios and I reseated the memory and it worked!! Thank you guys so much

I checked the cables and no, it doesn't see them during post. Would updating the bios fix it maybe?

Sounds like you either have a bad communicatin cable or power cable. The communication is more likely since both are not seen. Did you install the red strip on the com cable to the side of the drives nearest the power connector? Is one set to slave and the other to master? Do you have another cable you can try?

The cables were in the the right direction. I tried a different cable and just double checked it. The hard drive is master and cd rom is slave. I also found out my bios is the latest version. I dont think it's power because when I first boot, the hard drive led comes on and then goes off. And the cd rom opens and the led lights up when I push the eject button. I'm getting worried....

Try moving the cable to the second ide channel. If that does not work trying booting with just the harddrive attached. Watch the POST screen for to see if the systems sees anything. Do the drives show up in the BIOS screen?

I never asked, is this a new board?

I tried the hard drive by itself and the cd rom by itself in each ide channel. Still nothing. The auto detect in the BIOS doesn't see anything. Yes it is a new board.

I would say it is time to RMA it. I would suggest going with a different brand next time with a better reputation. If you plan to stay with the K-6 series I have had Asus and Tyan boards that worked very well.

Edit
Have you tried using the second channel?

@#$% I was afraid of that. I was originally looking for the Asus P5A but couldn't find it anywhere.

Ok I just thought of one more thing. I went into the bios and manually entered the cylinders, heads, and sectors for my hard drive. Now when I boot up, during the POST it says "Primary master hard disk fail" and the hdd access led comes on and stays on until I reboot. I am POSITIVE I have everything plugged in right.
