Looking at 2008 Altimas.
priced on Edmunds...submitted for quotes.
Contacted by all 4 dealerships. NONE, will give me a quote.
I submitted to go in to one dealership. Waste of time...completely and was lied to. The email exchange was not even with local person but rather someone somewhere else...did not have inventory I wanted...tried bait and switch...blah blah blah.

Screw em. This is why people hate buying cars, and they should all move to pricing as is.

I tell the salesperson...you have one shot at this...and bring back my keys on my trade in after you have spoken to the retard in the glass office. If you do not bring my keys with you, I will get up, walk into his office and take my keys and leave with no other words.

It is real simple aholes...Here is the car I want. Here is what I want to pay for it and the terms.

Here is what I owe on my trade in....

REAL REAL SIMPLE ... Can you sell me the car for what I have stipulated? Yes OR No...?

You have to be a catfish to sell cars....

Its always nice to pull up, see the salesperson remove his Skoal with his fingers, throw it on the ground and then reach out to shake your hand.... How they actually make money and move on is beyond me...and how so many people tolerate that crap is even more than beyond me.

Now flip side...

Past three cars I purchased this way. A Mazda, A Kia and a used Honda. So they doe exist. But apparently, Nissan only gives dealership licenses to idiots and pond scum.

Would a phone based ordering system be easier? Call a national company that already has deals worked out, tell them exactly what you want, they give you a simple flat rate after everything for your state, you go to a dealership with the check, and then pick up the car.

I think most people are sick of the crap dealerships give.

Edit: I'm an idiot - this is what Carmax is for, and they do a good job at it, for used cars. Do they sell new cars too?
 
I grew up pretty much on car dealerships, my grandfather and father have owned a few (i owned part of a few but never ran t hem).
I hate going to buy a car. Before my dad retired i would call him and say i need a car. he would ask what i want and then tell me to come get it. I always got a good deal and a good car.

it sucks now. i have to deal with the salesmen and it pisses me off when they pull shit on me. we are looking to get a newer van. went to one dealership my dad owned a part of to talk to a salesmen i have known for years. he tried to pull so muich shit it pissed me off. finally asked if he really thought i was that fuckign stupid. sigh.

In my experience, it's hard to find a good dealership that will work with you repeatedly. My two best experiences were a Toyota dealer in VA and a MINI dealer in OH. Of course I am in MI. :roll:
 
Carmax for dumping your trade in and then Costco for the buying service of the new one?
 
Am I the only one who doesn't understand the bit about the keys and the trade in? It seems to me to be so arbitrary and strange. "I'm going to give you this apple. Take it back to your manager. If I don't get my apple back, I'll go to your manager and take the apple, eat it in front of him, throw it in his garbage can, then I'm walking out."

All those online sites to find you a car locally are kind of scam-ish. I signed up for one and was directed to the exact same salesperson I had just spoken to in person who actually got mad at me for going online after speaking to him. Real winner, that one.

That's why I went dealer to dealer looking for someone who understood that I wanted a particular car with a particular option set, and I knew how much they paid so I knew how much I should pay, and I'm willing to wait for it if it's not on the lot. Eventually, I got hooked up with a fleet dealer who understood this and things went very smoothly.

...they schmuck who tried to sell me a Camaro with the 3.4L V6 as a "really souped up V6!" didn't get anywhere.
