CRAPPY cable internet

You know, I have adelphia too and I was just thinking the same thing. It used to be real fast, then about 2 weeks ago it all went to hell 🙁

Comcast in Ann Arbor is first-rate. People say bad stuff about them, but I've been nothing but impressed.

strange, I'm in Redondo Beach and had a fat outage about 2 weeks ago. turned out my cable modem died. no problems at all with the new one.

I have Adelphia too... and it's blazing fast compared to Cox at work (which is always around 56K speeds)

Only prob with Adelphia is ocassionally it won't work at all (especially when I really need to do something online)
and the tech support doesn't know anything .. just got to wait it out.

Give them hell, if mine was slow I would be pissed... well 56k slow, mine is slow but not incredibly slow. I get speeds of 400k sometimes, when the people or server I am downloading off is a good speed.

Usually I download at around 50K/s and my ping is 600 on a bad day. On a good day it's 90.

I sucks because in most cases they have a clause in their terms of service agreement which basicly says they will make no guarantees as to your experience because of the nature of the intenet and whatnot. Have you checked the DSL reports message boards? They have support boards for numerous areas/isp's and if you are lucky you can get in touch with an actual local tech and not some half-wit on the phone following a flow chart.
