My old computer had a Sound Blaster Live Value card and I got really good bass when I used my Sennheiser PC150's and itunes. However, I just built a new computer and I am currently using onboard sound (Realtek AC97) and the bass really sucks now. I tried turning up the bass from the equalizer in the Sound Effects Manager in the Control Panel, but it doesn't help.
Is there any way I can get more bass from my new computer? I don't can't use my old card since my old computer has no onboard sound and I can't buy a new sound card yet, at least until my birthday comes in a few months.

Do you have the sound profile set to 2-speaker for your onboard sound? If it's trying to output 5.1, you're losing the sub signal.

I noticed that if I go to "Play Control" (by double clicking the mic in my taskbar tray), I can enable advanced controls, then press the advanced button underneath Play Control volume. There is a Bass slider and Treble slider there. However, this "Advanced Controls for Play Controls" is not accessible in my new computer. How can I get to this box on my new computer?

This is not hardware accelarated audio.

That volume control is only avalable for harware accelarated audio. Check your settings make sure they are set for full audio accearation. your onboard sound (Realtek AC97)

your best bet is an audigy, one can be had for around $50 and it is fully accelarated by hardware.

realtek sucks. That goes for audio, network, etc.

Your hardware needs to support it, realtek is not hardware audio.

Get this, Sound card ($40) and your bass adjustmemts will become unlocked.

Like I said before, I don't want to buy a video card right now because I don't have the money yet.

I think he used the wrong word and meant that he doesn't want to buy a soundcard right now because he doesn't have the money yet.
