wow.. never knew you shouldn't button the BOTTOM one.... i always do.....
then again, when i GET to the interview, i just take the jacket off anyways.
sitting there in a chair with a jacket on looks stupid anyways.
bad move.
Yup. IIRC you should un-button the jacket when you are seated, but you should not take it off.

whew, glad I checked here. I have the interview in 1 hour, but I've been in class since 9 (30 min from my original post)....didn't think I'd get online till then but I busted out my laptop in my data structures class....

No, seriously.

Beer, what are you doing soliciting ATOT for fashion advice? These people barely know how to use a clip-on tie.
NEVER trust fashion advice from a computer geek, ever.

I sure hope you didn't go to the interview with the bottom button buttoned. I would laugh at you if I was the interviewer.

Especially since most ATOT'ers are only wearing underwear till they go to class around noon.

Top and middle, or middle only.

actually if only 1 button, then top only iirc.
Depends. If you want to look hip and up with the styles, than you'll just button the middle. If you just wanna button it and look good, then the top.

Top two. NEVER button the bottom button of a suit jacket. Also, never leave the top button undone if the middle button is done.

from Men's Health:

THREE BUTTONS: This configuration harks back to '60s mods--the original trendsetters. It's for the man "who wants the option to play it traditional or on the edge." Button either or both of the top two buttons for the current look.

TOP TWO! Don't listen to the idiots who replied first. If it's a two button jacket just button the top, never button the bottom button.

I thought it was that when you are walking you have all 3 buttoned. Then when you sit down you unbutton the bottom one, leaving top and middle buttoned when sitting?
Any thoughts on this?

Never button the bottom button. Its a pretty stead fast "rule"

When sitting unbutton all.

Yes, don't do that. Keeping all three buttons buttoned is a sure sign of a huge geek.

For the love of god (and your hopes of landing this job) only button the top two!

Just in case you ever have to wear a two button suit, only do up the top button.
