<snip>I appreciate your welcoming me to the world, but I've probably been here longer than you. Oh, and you must've missed my update where I posted that my boss had absolutely no problem with it.
probably not, I dealt with bosses for years, and now I don't have one, I retired. With your whinning you sounded like one of the new generation of 20 something spoiled brats in their first job, and the shock that bosses actually want you to do your job, come to work, on time, and all the other things our youth fail to learn.
Thanks for the lecture grandpa, but no, this is not my first job. And no, I have never been fired. Yes, I'm 20 something, but nor for much longer. Please point out exactly where I was "whinning"?
and how does one forget a court date?
I got the ticket a few months ago, the court date was postponed twice. I'm sure that you have a hard drive for a brain and cannot forget things. I, on the other hand, am human and can forget.

Funny when I was a Property Manager my Boss was a real dickhead when it came to taking a day off too. When my Father in Law passed away I had to threaten to quit to get his blessing to go out of state for a week.
My boss is not a bad guy at all, and he completely understood.
If your job was anything like mine that means that you are salaried and on call 24 hours a day in case of emergencies (missed a few Holiday Dinners during the ten years I was at the job). It also meant that you would sometimes have to work late into the evening and on weekends to accommodate a client or a prospective tenant.
I don't really deal directly with tenants anymore. Each property has it's own office and staff, and the people in the offices work directly with the tenants. They answer to me and they are my responsibilty, I hire and fire the staff and the office people as needed.
My job is pretty much to make sure each property makes money. That means, make sure the leasing agents are filling the complexes, make sure the maintnance crews aren't spending ridiculous sums of money on nothing at all, etc. etc. Sure, I get called down for emergencies at all times of the night, but only if it's a "real" emergency (i.e. a fire or a gas leak).
Sheeet Bro you have no troubles😉 Just lay off the gas pedal and you'll have it made!

Sorry. I just expected it have been different. After seeing how so many a**holes drive.

My apology.

I wish it were that simple. I'm not in this business to remain where I am. I'm here to learn the business like the back of my hand and to eventually invest in my own property.

DoH! the title "Crap, I'M in trouble" so often used on threads by some whinner

Uh... Post it Notes, scraps of paper, PIM on your computer/PDA/cell phone, write it on the wall, gee there are so many ways that one can take responsibility for own lives and committments... if only they first acknowledge that it is their responsibility

"do what you have to do" is not a good sign. i use that line when im about to do what i have to do. ie: find a replacement for the position. i just run a restaurant tho, and its takes a good bit to get to that point with someone depending on their work ethics.

I'm not worried about that at all. It's just the way the guy talks. From what I hear through the grapevine they are pretty happy with my job performance.

Why do you need to take a whole day off to go to court?? 2-3 hours max, at least here. And no more then a half a day, I wouldn't think. Just work what you can, and take off what you have to.

No, but it's not "having it made". Not yet. 🙂

Read the thread. Courthouse is an hour and a half from where I work. And I'm going in to work for 2 hours.

UPDATE 2: Lawyer got the ticket reduced to "impeding the flow of traffic" which is a glorified parking ticket. I paid $85 dollars and no points. Helps that my lawyer is the former prosecutor at that court! 🙂

Wow I'm tired.

At first glance I thought the topic said "Crap, I'm an outtie!"

I thought you just figured out you have an outtie belly button and that it was a bad thing.

All work and no play makes Literati an idiot.
