crap, i slept late and missed my methadone dose today...

You have to show up at the clinic daily to get your dose? I thought you got them take home?

You might feel the very beginnings of w/d by the time you take your dose tomorrow, depends on your habit.

Seems like the 'done is working for ya. Keep it up!

As I said in another thread, I'd recommend coming off opiods completely using suboxone. Actually, on 60mg/day of methadone, you might've been able to go straight to suboxone (it is not very effective for huge habits as there is a ceiling). Although, it is much more expensive I believe unless you have insurance. The only reason I mention it is getting off of methadone is hell, even at 10-20mg/day. But I guess your doctor has a taper schedule for you... I just find suboxone more effective for getting off than methadone.

Careful with the xanax long term.
I don't know anyone that didn't end up eventually being addicted to it.
They started on low doses but as time went on it became less and less effective, so they had to keep upping the dose.

Ever tried something like buspar ?
Its similar without the problems of xanax.
Wasn't very effective for me, but it works for some.

Because he made an ignorant statement that showed a lack of knowledge on the subject.

Seems pretty obvious, but if you need a more in-depth explanation just let me know...

Thank you for the update.

I can now continue on with my day.

Grow the hell up dude, this isn't your personal journal.

just thought i'd let you guys know...

do you foresee a day when you will be drug free?

definitely. i plan to be drug free in less than 6 months, the taper process my counselor wants me to do, is to lower my dose 2mg a week, whenever im ready to start.... and im stabalized now at 60mg, so as soon as im ready (which will be in the next couple months) we'll begin the taper, and ill be free from this hellhole....

the xanax though, i dont think i'll ever get off of, it just helps so much with my work, it makes me completely calm and cool when talking to my clients, and motivates me to get my work done.

so when did xanax stop becoming a drug?

so, what are the other options vs. being on methadone for the rest of your life?
is it possible to go into a 'rehab' or something and get completely off drugs?

im going to start a slow taper from the methadone soon...im on a really lose dose, 60mg, so it shouldnt be to rough of a taper, once i taper off i'll be completely opiate free.

notice he says "opiate free" not "drug free"
i'll concede to allowing prescription drugs if they are prescribed to you and you take the prescribed amount, but i doubt it.

just take a hit, it wont hurt you. youll feel better and tomorrow youll be back on the methadone and noone will even know. you wont even notice a difference. youll be fine.

I've contemplated quite a few responses to this, most of them would jack with my karma.

maybe he should have said so when i asked then. how easy would that have been?
and, may i add, that one experience /= someone who has had experience with many people.
