ROFL I love it when ppl who don't know how Distribution/Wholesale/Retail works and comment on such matters.

Az: tsk tsk you shouldn't be revealing your cost to strangers...

Heh. Apple d oesnt make too much on Nanos. The flash memory cost is just far too high. Their margins were A LOT better on the minis.

After disassembling the iPod nano, iSuppli discovered something that?s bound to make iPod nano owners angry. The entire cost of materials inside the nano adds up to a measly 90.18 and if you add 8 dollars per unit for labor, Apple still makes $100.82 per 2GB iPod nano sold.

I guess they've never heard of overhead, R&D, advertising & marketing, salaries, rent, expenses, the fact that not all sales are direct to the end user, tech support, warranties, etc....

thats acting like apple makes all the profit from retail sales of the nano, which obviously isn't the case, since Azurik is getting them for 155, they aren't selling them to retailers for $200.

So you're telling me there's almost $100 markup on the 4gig Nanos from the retailers? I don't think so. I might not have experience with wholesale distribution but I know enough to know small guy like Azurik can't get that big of discount on hot new item unless it's hot. Like I said I bet even Walmart can't get 4gig for $155. Almost 40% discount on the hottest tech product of the year?. No freaking way. Not especially when it's Apple product. Apple don't give that big of discount.

Like I said, the supplier Azurik secured it from likely got it hot.

That's where you are mistaken. I do not buy my items hot.

Whoever said I get it off standard retail channels? There's a long chain in retail, and every way up gets a bite out of the profit.

Do you know where these are manufactured? Do you know where they go to afterwards, and so on and so on?
