Craigslist rocks

i know, CL's been around for ages.....but i've finally been using it with good results. sold Pistons tickets very quickly, for a friend. my latest score: Elliptical machine for $50. w00t!

i've been running an old-ass treadmill for a while now and with the weather colder, it's difficult to get the motivation to outside to run in the frigid cold. i've always wanted an elliptical machine, but i wanted a really nice (read: expensive) one. for $50, i'm sure this one will do 😀

linked for the extremely lazy or those with fingers too fat to type.

Currently working on setting up a time to pick up a free 30-gallon aquarium with wooden stand, gravel, plants, filters, fish, fish food, whatever is needed. Some guy didn't have room for it anymore, and was giving it away. Saw a picture, and it looks great. Craigslist FTW!

Would it be better to list things on there rather than on the FS/FT forums? (Can you make more money? or sell things faster?)

CL's websites are so bland and unappealing, it's like looking at an old BB run forum. I personally don't care for the sellers in my location either, I go straigh to eBay when I'm looking for something and only go the CL route when I'm forced to.

depends on what you sell.

but with CL's being totally free, it doesn't hurt to put an ad in both places. if you don't mind meeting people in person, you can skip the hassle (and risks) of shipping.

Except when there are idiots. See here

Guy trying to sell his phone, other guys are idiots and accuse him of trying to rip people off. Trying to sell for $450, idiot comes in and says you can get it for $350 with 2 year contract. One or two guys defend him, other religious idiots come in and bash them.

EDIT: Idiots ruin everything everywhere.

How good Craigslist is really depends on your location. For example compare Seattle's numbers to Tulsa's (my city). Tulsa has 416 "For Sale", Seattle has 91,947.
Granted, Tulsa is much smaller than Seattle, but it's still sort of sad to not have the plethora of viewers that other places in the country have.
Curse you blue staters and your technology.

SERIOUSLY depends on location. The Ohio rednecks around here haven't figured out what it is, and the only ones who respond to ads are the scammers (just received an offer from "John Carlos" this morning asking about "condition of item" and "very interested to buy"). Maybe in a year or so, it'll start being worth something, but it isn't now.

Wow, talk about stupid.

I've got a bunch of things I need to sell that are too much/heavy to ebay/ship. I might try CL. I didn't think there'd be enough people using it.

What about postaroo.com?

thanks for reminding me.. i need to find a cheap mini-dv... found one for $150.. not the best price.. but local.. but dammit.. i lost lots of funding recently... heh
