Had a similar thing happen with a couch.. Had to get our last move done in a day.. After everything else was out of the house, there was one couch left that was heavy as hell and neither of us liked very much.

Couch was in decent shape, had the recliners in it etc.. I took a $20 bill and taped it to the cushion and took a picture. Posted on CL that I just got done moving all day, and I will PAY someone 20 bucks to come take this free couch on the condition that I didnt have to move it..

I had 2 different people show up in cars too small to get the couch... One was a mini-van, the other was one of those half-assed honda crossover SUV. Why is it people who buy these things think they are actually made to haul anything but groceries? Its a friggen FULL SIZED COUCH.

Then I had one guy show up by himself expecting that I would help him load it despite clearly positing in the ad why I was paying in the first place..

I ended up helping him carry the couch out and keeping the $20 ( which he actually tried to protest)..

I hate people...

Cool story!

Heh I've personally moved those HD Toshiba's and Sony's before at an old job, it was doing insurance claims where we'd go in and remove then repair/scrap electronics then bring it all back nicely wrapped. Whenever we would get a tv like that it would end up with a big 'not salvageable' sticker on it if it didn't turn on or looked even remotely like it wouldn't work. Not worth a hernia or trip to the emerg.

I sold a piece of shit as-is on CL and the buyer emailed me 2 days later claiming the consistency was not to his liking and wondered if I had eaten spinach in the 48 hours prior to selling the shit.

I didn't even reply.

Why won't you help them move it? Seems like you're making a lot more work for yourself with all this hassle?
