My friend runs a craiglist delivery service.

yeah, it's pretty damn lucrative, but you have to work your ass off. aside from the hours, and the fact that you're likely doing a few moves per day, you have to keep your ads constantly rotated and your schedule in order.

the beauty of it, though, seems to be the strange cases of "free money" that start falling into your lap. Being that this is a high rental turnover area, driving around with a pickup truck is a huge advantage--see abandoned furniture on curb? Toss it in the back!

Your first mistake was using craigslist. Your second was olds.atotblog.com

sure, lots of flaky people and BS and scammers on CL. it is a FREE SERVICE.

this is to be expected. I'm simply mentioning that, counter to the yahoos posting in this thread that CL is complete junk, it is, in fact, an awesome service if you know how to wade through the detritus. Patience is certainly necessary these days.

 I actually bought my last car on CL. I had to deal with a lot of shit but I got a hell of a deal (Long story short her dad was an executive at GM, had all the service records, and they were loaded and I assume paid peanuts for it to start with so selling it for 30% below value was no big deal to them)

Edit: I just looked up the value after I've put 20,000 miles on it and it's still worth $2000 more than I paid for it

I'm trying to buy a drum throne from a guy on CL. Emailed yesterday at about 4pm asking if we could meet so I could look at the throne. Got a reply a few hours later, asking what part of town I was in. I replied, then nothing since. Almost 24 hours now.

I just want to buy the fucking thing.

I sold a textbook last winter using CL. First person to contact, met her 30 minutes later, got my cash. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

So many flakes on CL. I tried to sell my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers via CL (I have since decided to keep them and just store them for now, till I get a bigger desk/new apartment) - I go back and forth with one guy over e-mail, agree to a time, place, etc. He never shows up or gives any follow up e-mails. 2 weeks later, the same douche e-mails me over the ad which had then been reposted once or twice.

I always find it strange how people refer to "buying something on CL" like they're buying something from Amazon or Buy.com, and somehow the experience has anything to do whatsoever with CL. All that happened was you found it on CL, everything else was up to you and the seller. Good or bad, people seem to associate the transaction with CL itself. I don't get it.

I'm about to list my I30 on CL. Hope to get some good traffic after I drive it out to the lake and take some pics on the dam. The key is, if you live in a podunk area like Lawrence, to list it in the wichita and KC area craigslist sections as well to get maximum exposure.
