Because no one on the internet, a text based environment, likes to read, we'll skip to the cliffs immediately:

1.) I sell a guy who found an ad for my old bed on Craigslist said bed for $60.
2.) He comes to my place, loads it on his truck, pays me the cash and takes it away.
3.) A few hours later I get a call,

"Hey, this boxspring is really loud and it's moving around inside the frame a lot - did you have that problem?"

"Well, it was kind of creaky when I had it but it's kind of old. As far as the frame goes...I dunno, I never had a problem with it before."

"I'll try it again when I get home from work and get back to you."

4.) So now I'm wondering, if I should kick the guy back some of his money (I really just wanted the bed out of my apartment - the rest was gravy) for the trouble or tell him to deal with it (nicely, of course). WWATD?

Ask what he was doing in/on the bed when the box spring was moving around inside the frame and making said noises?

How are you supposed to know he didn't break it during transport? He should have checked it before he bought it. You don't owe him anything.

Deals done - in cash. He saw the merch beforehand to inspect - nothing he can do. Screw it.

Yeah, that's true - but still, I feel bad. He was a nice guy - I don't want anyone to feel like I'm fucking them over. The bed IS/WAS creaky when I had it but ya know, it's a bed...that works...and is clean...for $60.

Hopefully both the buyer and seller will fully utilize the human ability to logically examine the situation and come up with a rational compromise. /end generic advice

If buddy calls back - tell him that exactly.

Using my cognitive capacity for anything other than remembering inane banter from cartoon shows is against my personal credo.

In any case, if I tell him that he's going to have to live with it - I don't want him to come back and kill me. That would put a damper on my 2009.

Did he seem like the kind of guy who would kill you over $60?

How about this 2009 resolution: Stop being a pussy.

Why does it have to be a race issue?

Noted. Well, I'm taking off now to a New Year's party to be touched by a woman. You'll find out what that's like someday. Maybe you can make that your resolution :)

He was trying to hint to you that he wanted you to come over and test out the bed with him ;)

What makes you think he will kill you? Didn't you say he was nice?

He probably won't kill you but he might make you squeak like the bed.

This is not a race issue , definitely a lifestyle choice...
