Those Speedlocks are some of the best accessories I have ever purchased. I use them all the time and they work great. They really are a time saver!

That drill is definitely a great deal. The cheap Craftsmans usually don't have a dual range gearset. I have a 15.6V Craftsman drill/light which I love.

That's a bit of a blanket statement. I don't think many people would ever quibble with the supreme quality of Dewalt or Makita. But if your question is: Is this $50 craftsman drill better than whatever drill you can get from Dewalt or Makita for $50, I think you could say it probably is.

At the very least, sears is going to help you out if you EVER have trouble with the drill. For $50, I'm not sure you can go wrong here.

Heheh of course this drill can't compare with a Dewalt or Makita. An 18volt DeWalt drill costs around $200! That said, I'm not doing any heavy construction work... just small things around the house. To me, it's worth every penny at this price.

Thanks, got in on this one. Very nice set, I got the 40-pc. and the 18 volt Cordless Drill and Flashlight combo. Speed-lok is a nice simple innovation. Can't go wrong with Craftsman.

Nice find.

The speed lok stuff is cool for wood working and stuff.

18 volt drill has plenty of power for damn near anything you want to do with it.
Only drawback is the 3-6 hr charger drill. If you are sure you will never kill 2 batteries doing something though this is an excellent deal.

Might also consider extended warranty with this. For a few bucks it will give you two year replacement of this drill set, not just repairs. And the way they change things at Sears if you replace it after a year or so you may get a much better drill or charger or both.

Woohoo...picked up my Drill set at a local Sears today....5 of them were outta stock, but 6th time's a charm. The manager actually got me to buy the extended warranty too....it was less than $8 (not bad when you're saving $50), and I got it because he told me that if I got it an needed it replaced, he would give me the newer model (since this one is being discontinued).

This deal is still good...however, I picked up the drill yesterday and returned it today. Why? Because the charger sucks. It's basically a constant-charge system, no electronics at all, which means that after you determine the battery is fully charged (and there's no way to do that), it's up to you to unplug it, otherwise you will kill the batteries by overcharging.

I'd rather pay a bit more for a good charging system.

update:

i'm in the process of remodeling our house, room by room. i finally had a free weekend, so i got the drill out and started pulling some new wire through the basement.

the drill worked great the first day, and both battery packs lasted me almost the whole day. next day, i get up, start drilling, and within 15 minutes, the drive gear stripped out on me.

took it to sears and within 10 minutes i walked out with a brand new 19.2V drill/flashlight combo with A 1 HOUR SMART CHARGER!!!

i'm assuming i got a defective one, as my little POS skil 14.4V drill had been doing just fine doing the same work. regardless, i'm very happy with my purchase and sears' committment to their customers. thanks OP!
