My understanding is that the metallic screen over the glass acts as a Faraday Cage and that most everything else is lined with similarly microwave-reflective or absorptive materials. That screen is still there and I don't think it needs to be grounded so you are probably still safe.
I try to stay away from a microwave in operation ever since I read that a wireless microwave power transmitter capable of powering a standard appliance like a TV had no more microwave energy in the beam than the leakage you'd be exposed to when standing next to a normal microwave. Instead of being comforted by that, I took it to mean "you mean my body is absorbing enough energy to power a TV when I stand next to an operating microwave?!" That's scary, but I use cellphones and WiFi without worry (MUCH lower power output).
