After tearing down my rig it wound up being a corrupted bios. For some reason the dual bios couldn't recover itself.

Rig is currently offline so no screen shot.

Quick run with 4670k @ 4.2GHz @1.15v ram at 1867MHz

WTF?

1612/4745

Scores don't seem to line up looking at similar cpu. No tweaking othe than 42x multiplier and slight vcore boost. Don't remember changing anything else. Will have to look and sèe.

4790k build tonight :)

Thought my MB was toast so bought a replacement. Just needed to order a case and SSD.

Anyone hit 2000+ in single threaded scores yet? Anyone with a 6700K run this test?

Based on what I scored at 4.5 and 4.75 and what Skylake scores at 4.5 it should take about 4.7 or a little above that to breach 2000.

Got my 4790k rig up and running. Still on the overclocking adventure. So far so good.

Here's my best run so far. 4.8GHz 4c 8t

Didn't 100% stress test at these clocks yet. Pretty much a just to see how the chip does. Up multiplier > vcore = normal > offset vcore +0.050v is pretty much all I changed.

Tested on my cheapo laptop, AMD A4 5000 4 core 1.5GHz 368 ST/1039 MT, my goodness. It's a Kabini so it uses single channel memory.

Build 10532 did the same thing. Left me a note, and removed CPU-Z 1.73.

Had to install it again.

I sent this email to CPUID, still have not heard back:

Firstly, I want to thank you all for the wonderful software that many of us use daily. HWMonitor and CPU-Z are invaluable!

I am writing to ask a question in regards to the new Bench tab, and more specifically the Stress button which creates 100% utilization. Would you mind sharing how exactly the 100% utilization is achieved? I ask because IF it utilizes AVX instructions, overclocked 22 and 14nm CPUs can be damaged from current draw.

I understand if you'd prefer not to answer the question exactly, but if you could please confirm whether or not AVX is utilized in the manner that is damaging to overclocked CPUs?

Thanks!

Still curious. Anyone here know?
Anyone, thoughts?

I'm most definitely over-analyzing, but I still think it's a valid question.

can be damaged from the current draw? which part of the chip, and how? electromigration? did you pull this out of your tail?

My replacement 4790k seems to be doing OK so far :)

Here are some results for scaling purposes

4.8GHz

4.9GHz

Throwing this one in here as I guess I forgot to do a screenshot to match the above photos.

Was surprised it would even boot into Windows at 5Ghz with somewhat decent voltage.

Don't really plan on running it at crazy high overclocks.

Probably settle on 4.6 or 4.8Ghz as I'd like to keep the voltage under 1.3v's max.

Might have a shot at 4.8Ghz but need to do some more stress testing to see.

Soooooo close to that 2k ST score. Nice job!

Thanks!

Guessing the 2k barrier would be around 5.2GHz with Haswell.

I could post at 5.1GHz but bsod at windows loading. Didn't try over 1.4v's.

Maybe 2 cores with HT disabled would do the trick?
