CPU Wattage?

For $101.46 i can get a:
AMD, Mobile Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2GHz, 1MB 2L cache, 62W, 90nm, 754-pin lidless mPGA

For $116.28 i can get a:
AMD, Mobile Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2GHz, 1MB 2L cache, 81.5W, 90nm, 754-pin lidless mPGA


What is the difference between these two processors? How much of a difference does wattage make? Will one run cooler than the other, will a difference even be noticable. Any thoughts? Mostly i would like to know if the 19.5W more energy is worth the extra $14.82

Um, you have the low power one listed as cheaper

Anyway to answer your question, lower power is always better. It means it'll run cooler. As long as its not more than a 15% price increase then a lower power version is always worth it.

Also don't forget that you could buy the cheaper/higher power cpu and then undervolt it. Just lowering it by 0.1v makes a good difference to power consumption/temps.

i hope you realize those are DTR Winchester models...they may require a special hsf because they are IHSless...
